Casement windows open outward and seal tighter than sliding windows, giving better air-tightness and sound insulation and less leakage around the opening. In hot, humid regions this reduces cooling loss and helps air conditioning hold its temperature; in cold, dry climates the sash seals shut to keep warmth in. Double glazing (DGU) is recommended for better sound and heat insulation. The 52 series is the largest casement section, for big shutters up to 3030 mm high.
